Admission procedure for 2015-17 batch

Eligibility: The minimum requirement for admission to the Programme is a three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. Candidates who expect to complete the final part of their degree examinations by June 15, 2015, can also apply. Offers of admission to such candidates, if made, will be provisional and will be automatically cancelled in the event of their failing to complete all the requirements for obtaining the degree before June 15.

Admission Test

Applicants are required to take any one of the Admission Tests: a) XAT to be conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur, on 4 January, 2015, or b) CAT to be conducted by IIMs on 16 & 22 November 2014, or c) GMAT taken in 2013 or 2014 (minimum score for applying 550), or d) X-GMAT to be conducted at Bhubaneswar during January 2015, by Xavier University. Applicants opting for XAT/CAT have to follow XAT/CAT advertisements respectively and apply in time. Registering for XAT/CAT/GMAT is a prerequisite for applying to XIMB, if not opting for X-GMAT.

XIMB Application

Applicants also have to fill up the online application form separately for XIMB programme at: Upon successfully filling the online application form, the Payment Advice Form can be downloaded. The applicant must take a printout of the same payment advice form and mail it to the Admissions Office, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar-751013, accompanied by the proof of payment of application fee (non-refundable). The application fee must be paid in one of the following ways:
1. Use the Payment Gateway link available on the XIMB online application page to pay the relevant application fee through:

    a) Net Banking using your account holding bank’s net banking options (of any bank in India); or

    b) Credit / Debit Cards of any bank in India.

    (You should send to XIMB the PA Form along with a copy of Payment Gateway Response, as proof of payment.);

2.  Use the State Bank Collect link available on the application page.
(You should send to XIMB the PA Form along with a copy of State Bank Collect e-Receipt, as proof of payment.)

On receipt and processing of proof of payment of the required amount and the Payment Advice Form, the Bulletin 2015 will be mailed to the applicant . The last date for applying online is December 20, 2014, and for receiving the application fee it is December 24, 2014.

It may be noted that besides registering for XAT/CAT/GMAT, one has to apply (online) separately to XIM, Bhubaneswar.

Online application form will be accepted subject to the receipt of the relevant application fee by XIMB. Upon receipt and processing of the payment proof, the eligible applicants will be intimated by e-mail about the acceptance of their applications.

Selection Process 

The Institute will decide the section-wise as well as total cut-off marks which will be used for short-listing the candidates to be called for Written Ability Test, and Personal Interview. WAT, & PI will be held in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses for appearing in the Interview session. The final selection will be made on the basis of the candidate's performance in the XAT/CAT/GMAT/X-GMAT as well as in the Written Ability Test, and Personal Interview (which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience). The selected candidates will be informed by mail in the month of April 2015.

The on-line X-GMAT test will be of 120 minutes duration and will be conducted in the computer labs of XIMB, XUB campuses only. The multiple choice question (MCQ) type test will have five sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Emotional Quotient and General Awareness. There will be sectional time limits, with negative markings for wrong answers.
The pattern and syllabus will be similar to the other tests like CAT and XAT.
The test will be conducted on 11th January 2015 and the candidates will have to make their own arrangements for travel and stay. The time schedule and venue details will be intimated by email, by the last week of December.


The programme will begin by the middle of June 2015 for the first year students. At this time the students will be given a Manual of Policies and Regulations which will be binding on them.
