A Certificate Course on “Basic Managerial Skills for Potential Managers and Entrepreneurs” (A sponsored program of SIDBI) The Institute Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar was jointly conceptualized by the Odisha Jesuit Society and Government of Odisha more than 20 years ago as a management institution with a difference, an institution which imparts not only management education but also develops social entrepreneurship towards the developmental needs of the country and more specifically of the state. With this motto behind it, the institution has come a long way and today is considered to be one of the premier management education institutions not only in the country but even outside. The Institute creates opportunities for growth and development of local entrepreneurs, maximizes management research and brings about the overall industrial development of India through various innovative consulting projects with present and potential investors and wealth creators. Campus The Institute is located on 20 acres of verdant campus in the neighborhood of NALCO, Satyam Computer, Software Technology Park and other renowned business houses and institutions. The entire Wi-Fi enabled campus houses the office complex, auditorium complex, residences for gents, ladies and executive program students, CENDERET office complex, Management Development Center (MDC) and studio Apartment. In addition, the Institute has a floodlit basketball court, tennis courts, indoor badminton court, gymnasium and well maintained playing fields for cricket and soccer. The Institute provides residential quarters for the faculty on campus. We are in the process of setting up another Wi-Fi campus with state-of-the-art facilities. Library The XIMB Library has an ever increasing collection of books, journals, audio visuals, working papers, annual reports, summer projects, etc. Besides the print materials, XIMB Library has various electronic resources in the form of Corporate and Economic database (Indian/International) like EBSCO, ABI Inform, Elsevier (Science direct), JSTOR, Emerald Management, sage Database, ISI Emerging Market database, CMIE, India stat, etc. The Library Information System
is accessible from inside as well as outside the campus. More information about

(CRC) provides IT resources to the students, faculty and staff. The Institute
provides notebooks and workstations to all faculty and staff. All the computers
are connected to the Campus LAN, which is supported by Fibre Optic backbone. In
addition, wireless hotspots are spread all across the campus making it possible
to remain connected anywhere in the campus all the time. The campus network
covers the Institute, class rooms, library, hostels and faculty residence. All
members on the internet have access to the internet 24 hours, through 50 MBPS
leased lines. The CRC has designed, developed and implemented many software
applications in the Institute and outside. Class Room Complex The
Class room Complex includes air-conditioned lecture halls, syndicate rooms,
multimedia hall and executive class rooms. The class rooms are equipped with
educational audio/video equipments, tablet PCs, computers with large monitors,
LCD projectors and network connections. While most classes are held in the
lecture halls, some prefer to the lawn adjacent to the classroom complex for
education with a difference. Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) Entrepreneurship
Development Centre (EDC) aligns with the institute’s commitment to give a
strong orientation to the social and economic growth of Odisha and the country
as a whole. The centre strives to support all categories of institutions and
organizations that are working in the development sector. It provides
consultancy, technical inputs, helps draft proposals, devises monitoring and
evaluation parameters, conducts training programmes and workshops and provides
other customized solutions as per the needs of the industry or the
organization. It has the mandate to promote small and micro enterprises through
different means for creation of livelihood opportunities, employment and income
and poverty eradication in the state. Vision of EDC “A self sustained Centre of Excellence in the field of Entrepreneurship Promotion to act as catalyst to enable the entrepreneurial communities both in rural and urban areas to promote economic growth in the State of Odisha.”

The course would be a combination of class room teaching and Project Assignment. The class room teaching would involve lectures, presentations, case analysis, group discussions, etc. A number of interactive sessions with successful entrepreneurs would be organized to provide a conducive platform for the students.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE Eligibility The candidates must have a three year bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities Course Duration: 6 months Class Schedule: Evening hours on week days (Monday to Saturday) Program Fees: Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand only) (Rs. 1, 000/- will be held as caution money which will be refundable on the completion of the course) to be given as Demand Draft (DD). Selection Process Upon
submission of the completed application the scrutiny of applications and
credentials will be done and the short listed candidates will have to appear
for a Personal Interview. The final selection will be based on the performance
in the interview, the candidate’s academic performance and his/her relevant
